James Morrison to adapt after quadruple Hull City injury update pre-West Brom
West Brom are showing signs of life in their Championship relegation battle, despite a win still evading them.
James Morrison‘s side suffered their latest setback on Wednesday night, when a 91st-minute header from Cyle Larin earned Southampton a dramatic late point at The Hawthorns.
West Brom had taken the lead through Jayson Molumby just before half-time, and despite defending well and repelling wave after wave of Southampton attacks, the dam eventually broke with minutes to go.
The Championship is an unforgiving and relentless division though, and Morrison’s men will have to pick themselves up and go again on Saturday, as they welcome Hull City to B71.

Hull set to welcome host of players back for West Brom clash
As reported by BBC Humberside journalist James Hoggarth via X, Hull have been handed a major injury boost regarding three first-team stars ahead of their visit to The Hawthorns on Saturday.
Oli McBurnie, Kyle Joseph and Amir Hadziahmetovic have all recovered from illnesses and should be ready to go against Albion.
However, midfielder Eliot Matazo hasn’t been handed a positive injury update for the Tigers, with the 24-year-old suffering from a quad muscle injury that is unlikely to afford him a return to action before the end of the season.
So, Morrison will now have to prepare his West Brom players accordingly ahead of Saturday, and in particular for McBurnie.
The 29-year-old has been one of the signings of the 2025-26 Championship season, with 13 goals and six assists from 28 league games this term reaffirming himself as one of the most dangerous marksmen in the second tier.
Meanwhile, Joseph has also enjoyed a breakthrough sophomore season at the MKM Stadium, scoring seven times and providing four assists in 38 total appearances, and will have to be accounted for by Albion too.
Hadziahmetovic has started 23 of his 32 Championship appearances this season, and is a tough and combative central midfielder whose strengths lie in the uglier sides of the game, such as duel-winning and breaking up play.
What is West Brom’s recent head-to-head record vs Hull?
With Sergej Jakirovic’s side sitting fifth in the Championship table, they are still in with a chance of securing automatic promotion to the Premier League this term, six points behind second-placed Middlesbrough.
As such, West Brom will be under no illusions as to how big a test they face on Saturday, but the history books will tell them that Hull haven’t enjoyed their meetings with Albion in recent times.
Indeed, the Baggies have only been beaten by Hull once in their last five Championship meetings, dating back to November 2023.
Albion have won twice and drawn twice in that time, but Hull do have the most recent bragging rights, having beaten a Ryan Mason-led Baggies side 1-0 at the MKM back on 20 December 2025.
