Supercomputer predicts West Brom to suffer 116-year first in Championship clash vs Hull City

West Brom are back in action at The Hawthorns when they take on Hull City in Saturday’s Championship clash.

The Baggies conceded a last-minute equaliser in Wednesday’s 1-1 with Southampton, and their winless run in the league has now stretched to 13 games.

With just nine games to go, James Morrison‘s side are acutely aware of the dangers of relegation, and the performance against the Saints has to be the benchmark from now on.

Although it’s been a miserable start to 2026, that could all change in the next eight weeks, but it has to start with a comprehensive victory over high-flying Hull.

Hull predicted as favourites vs West Brom

Sergej Jakirovic’s side come into the match off the back of a fantastic away win against Wrexham, with Joe Gelhardt and Lewis Koumas finding the back of the net.

Although they lost their two previous games before that, Hull are comfortably sitting fifth in the table, and they look nailed-on to secure a playoff finish.

According to Opta‘s supercomputer, West Brom are in for another miserable afternoon at The Hawthorns.

Hull are looking to complete their first league double over the Baggies since the 1909-10 season.

The Tigers have also won 10 of their last 14 league matches when starting the day with a lead of 20 points or more over their opponents in the table.

In the reverse fixture, Jakirovic’s men ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Oli McBurnie’s penalty.

Although West Brom haven’t lost at home to Hull in nine meetings, the Tigers are now predicted to end a 116-year streak by completing the double over the Baggies at The Hawthorns.

How will Hull City play vs West Brom?

The Tigers play in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with McBurnie playing as the lone striker.

Liam Miller and Cody Drameh provide a lot of attacking threat as wing-backs, while Regan Slater and Amir Hadziahmetovic hold down the midfield.

Jakirovic is known for his counter-attacking style of play, and their average possession of 45.6 per cent per game is 19th among other Championship sides.

The Baggies definitely have the quality to break Hull down, but they’ll need to be wary of their threat on the break.

If they aren’t careful, then the visitors could run rampant in B71.
