Danny Imray phenomenal, Jed Wallace proves doubters wrong – West Brom player ratings vs Hull City

Danny Imray and Jed Wallace were outstanding as West Brom moved out of the relegation zone by beating Hull City 3-0.

Josh Maja opened the scoring at The Hawthorns on Saturday after turning home Wallace’s low cross in the 25th minute.

Hull defender Charlie Hughes was then sent off for pulling Wallace back, and the Baggies continued to perform excellently after that flash point.

Aune Heggebo scored West Brom’s second goal after good work from substitute Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba, before Isaac Price put some gloss on the scoreline by finishing off a well-worked move in stoppage time.

The result moves West Brom up to 21st place, with Imray and Wallace standing out for their fine performances.

Danny Imray’s performance for West Brom in numbers vs Hull

Imray signed for West Brom on loan from Crystal Palace after excelling at Blackpool in the first half of the season.

The right-back started his first game in the Baggies’ 3-0 loss to Portsmouth on 31 January, but was swiftly dropped for Alfie Gilchrist against Stoke the following match.

However, Morrison completely trusts him, and the 22-year-old has certainly repaid the faith shown in him.

Against Hull, he was unstoppable down the right-hand side, linking up well with Wallace and causing Hull’s defence serious problems.

He even registered his first assist for the club, squaring the ball to Price who finished emphatically.

The Sofascore stats above show how influential he was against Hull, and it’s safe to say that he has established himself as a fan favourite in B71.

Jed Wallace also superb vs Hull City

While Imray delivered a performance that showcased his potential, Wallace’s display was mature.

The 31-year-old has been impressive at times for West Brom after arriving from Millwall in June 2022.

However, he was dreadful in the 2-1 loss to Oxford United in February, and several fans were calling for him to be dropped from the side.

But he has responded brilliantly to the criticism, and despite being West Brom’s oldest player, he showed great athleticism and guile to torment Hull throughout the match.

According to Sofascore, Wallace registered a pass accuracy of 83 per cent, which shows how effective he was on the right wing.

With his contract expiring at the end of the campaign, this sort of performance could highlight why he is a valuable asset who is worth keeping around beyond the summer.
