West Brom vs Blackburn: Ticket sales prove Albion fans are up for relegation battle

West Brom have announced that the initial ticket allocation for Easter Monday’s trip to Blackburn of 4,417 have sold out.

What a difference a week can make in football, as West Brom are finding out at the moment for the better.

Since the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United on 7 March, James Morrison‘s men are unbeaten in the Championship, with another draw against Southampton before that long-awaited win over Hull last Saturday.

As a result, Albion are now out of the bottom three by a single point, and a real feel-good factor has returned to The Hawthorns as the run-in to the end of the season begins.

West Brom fans show fighting spirit with Blackburn ticket sales

As confirmed via West Brom’s official X account on Tuesday, Albion have sold their full initial ticket allocation of 4,417 for their clash with Blackburn at Ewood Park on Easter Monday.

West Brom have also revealed that they’re in discussions with Blackburn over the potential to open up the upper tier of the Bryan Douglas Darwen End (away end), which can hold a further 2,979 supporters.

Should Albion be granted this request for more tickets, then Morrison’s side could see a travelling army over around 7,400 Baggies fans descending on Ewood Park on 3 April.

This is hugely refreshing to see, as it shows that the vast majority of Albion fans are now firmly behind their team once again, and are determined to sing and shout their side over the line this season.

For the Albion players, to look over at that away end and see an entire stand taken up by Baggies fans must fill them with so much fire and confidence, and it demands a performance from them too.

So much of this season has seen supporters – and quite rightly so – voicing their anger and frustration towards the team, so it’s brilliant to see everyone connected with West Brom united once again.

What is West Brom’s record against Blackburn like?

It’s set to be a massive relegation six-pointer at Ewood Park on Easter Monday too, with Blackburn currently just two places and as many points ahead of West Brom in the table.

As such, there’s sure to be an awful lot riding on the result of this clash for both sides, but how have Albion fared against Rovers in recent times?

Well, the Baggies do have the current bragging rights in this fixture, having beaten Blackburn 1-0 back on the opening day of this season.

However, it’s largely been a fixture that’s seen those bragging rights change hands rather routinley in recent times, with both teams winning twice in the last five meetings with one draw.

Therefore, we can probably expect a close and nervy encounter on Easter Monday, with managers of both teams perhaps making it clear to their players that at the very least, they can’t afford to lose the game.
