Tammer Bany reacts to news Ousmane Diakite has agreed West Brom contract extension

Tammer Bany has liked an Instagram post from West Brom confirming Ousmane Diakite has extended his contract.

Diakite has agreed a deal to keep him at the Hawthorns until 2027. The Malian midfielder’s previous contract was set to expire this summer.

Bany was not the only West Brom associate to show his support, as Daryl Dike has also liked the confirmation.

The 25-year-old joined the Midlands outfit back in 2024; however, he has often played a bit-part role at West Brom.

However, under James Morrison so far, he has begun to have a much bigger influence.

How Ousmane Diakite’s performances under James Morrison may have influenced contract

Diakite has started three of the four games that Morrison has been in charge of since Eric Ramsay was sacked by Bilkul.

However, prior to the former West Brom player taking over, he had started just 15 of the 38 Championship games played this season.

Since Morrison put Diakite back into the starting lineup, the Baggies are yet to lose. They have secured one win and two draws over those matches.

Additionally, according to Sofascore, the Malian has averaged a match rating of 6.96 over that three game span.

Overall, it appears that Morrison has breathed new life not only into the Baggies but also into Diakite as well.

Which West Brom players have deals expiring this summer?

Diakite has left the list of those that looked set to leave the Hawthorns in the summer, but there are still quite a few whose time is on the clock.

Josh Maja, Dike, Jed Wallace and Karlan Grant are in the final few months of their deals. Meanwhile, Max O’Leary’s contract is set to expire in 2026, but the Baggies hold an option to extend by a year.

Loanees Charlie Taylor, Danny Imray, Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba and Hindolo Mustapha are also currently set to return to their parent clubs after this campaign.

It may need to be a busy summer for the B71 outift, with plenty of spots in the squad looking to be filled as it stands.
