Bristol City make Granit Xhaka howler in matchday programme for West Brom clash

Bristol City made a bizarre mistake by featuring Granit Xhaka on their matchday programme against West Brom on Saturday.

The Baggies travelled to Ashton Gate and came away with an all-important win thanks to George Campbell’s first-half header.

James Morrison’s side were good value for the three points, but the hosts were massively underwhelming on the day.

The Robins only called Josh Griffiths into action on three occasions where he did well, but life was ultimately made easy for the Black Country outfit.

Gerhard Struber’s men never got going, but issues were apparent on and off the pitch with Xhaka named in the Albion squad in BS3.

Granit Xhaka named in West Brom squad at Ashton Gate

Anyone travelling to Ashton Gate would have been left stunned if they picked up a matchday programme from in and around the ground.

The Baggies are coming off the back of a win against Hull City, but a lack of true quality from their better players has left them in a poor situation.

If only West Brom could call on someone as good as Xhaka. Right?

Well, according to Bristol City, they should be able to if the squads named on the back of their programme are right.

Reading down the list into the 30’s, Albion’s names read:

A clear mistake from the Robins, but certainly left many supporters to double-take at the Sunderland star’s name on their squad list.

There will be questions about why Xhaka has been included on the roster, but there is unlikely to be any answer at Ashton Gate.

Who needs Xhaka when West Brom have Jayson Molumby?

That is certainly tongue in cheek, but the Republic of Ireland international was definitely excellent against the Robins on Saturday.

He didn’t manage to get on the scoresheet, but did take two shots while also creating one chance as he looked to make things happen in front of goal.

Molumby then chipped in with one tackle, five recoveries and two duel wins, something that Xhaka would be proud of right now.

The Sunderland skipper is still playing at a top level at 33 and has played a key role in carrying the Black Cats away from a relegation battle.

West Brom will hope that their midfield ace can replicate that at The Hawthorns, with limited games left in the Championship.
