Jayson Molumby’s West Brom form has done U-turn as three-for-three stat emerges from Bristol City

Jayson Molumby has now gone three games without being dispossessed after West Brom’s crucial 1-0 win over Bristol City.

The Irishman has been one of Albion’s most heavily criticised players this season, and yeah, he’s had some poor performances, but not many in the squad are better than him when he’s on it.

The individual stat shows, which shows that Molumby is gaining confidence in the middle of the park once again, and we have both him and James Morrison to thank.

The Baggies picked up another three points at Ashton Gate, but their surge for Championship survival stems from midfield dominance.

But it’s not just that statistic in particular that Molumby is impressing with for West Brom.

Jayson Molumby has been solid for three games now; stats prove it

There has been lots of discussions as to what Albion’s best midfield is. Perhaps all the chopping and changing this season hasn’t allowed a proper bond to be built in what is arguably the most important part of the pitch.

However, Morrison seems to be set on keeping Molumby and Diakite as his pivot, which is working a treat right now.

As highlighted in the table above, Molumby’s Sofascore has been above and beyond the standard in the last three games.

We all know how good he can be, and as Albion Analysis have highlighted on X, his magic midfield touch seems to back.

The 26-year-old now has an average rating of 7.5 in his last three games, and if he can keep that up going into the last seven battles of the season, West Brom will stay up.

Does Alex Mowatt have a way back in?

The obvious casualty from recent games has been Alex Mowatt, who has managed just 21 minutes in West Brom’s last four matches.

There was once a time when the 31-year-old was seen as one of the best players in the Championship, but he just hasn’t been able to produce enough this season.

Molumby edges Mowatt in key defensive stats that have been needed in what is now a relegation scrap, as the former wins 0.3 more ground duels per game.

A clear winner with clearances and aerial duels, Molumby just knows how to dig in and help his team over the line for results.

The summer will be an interesting one for Mowatt and West Brom.
