West Brom fans already want James Morrison to be given permanent job after win vs Bristol City

West Brom supporters have already called for James Morrison to be given the permanent job after Saturday’s crucial 1-0 victory against Bristol City.

Albion clinched all three points at Ashton Gate after George Campbell’s thumping first-half header and, in doing so, took a giant stride closer to Championship survival.

Morrison‘s side are now four points above the relegation zone, having also benefitted from results elsewhere, and are unbeaten in their last four under their interim boss.

The club legend has been widely praised after steering the Midlands outfit to two consecutive victories, with a string of gutsy performances transforming their campaign.

It is no wonder, then, that shouts for him to be given the nod have reached fever-pitch.

Appointing James Morrison ‘just makes sense’

Morrison was brought in to lead West Brom to safety after Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsey were dismissed earlier this season, winning just nine matches between them.

While his interim stint got off to the worst possible start after the 2-1 loss at Oxford United on February 28, the 39-year-old has improved spirits – and results – at The Hawthorns.

The win at Bristol City only enhanced his chances of securing the job full-time and, judging by reactions on X supporters would be fully on board.

“If Morrison was up for it, I’d genuinely love for him to become our new permanent head coach,” one user said.

“Knows the club and the players, has a great system, and the players clearly respond to him – definitely a level of respect there that takes a long time to build.”

Another applauded Morrison for understanding the demands at the club.

“Honestly if we stay up and continue to play like this every game I’m all for Mozza staying as manager,” they said. “He just gets this club and wants the best for us and you can’t ask for anything else… OHHH JIMMY JIMMYYY!”

The sentiment continued, with West Brom’s hierarchy urged to make the decision.

Indeed, one supporter simply declared: “James Morrison. Give him the contract.”

Is Morrison in the running for permanent West Brom job?

It is becoming increasingly hard for Albion to overlook Morrison, even with safety not secured. However, he will surely be entrusted with the reins if he keeps them up.

Morrison has wisely been picking the brains of both Tony Pulis and Tony Mowbray, and clearly, he is learning quickly from West Brom’s wider failings this season.

In just a matter of weeks, his team have become streetwise and savvy, while also now carrying a cutting edge strong enough to decide tight matches.

Both Slaven Bilic and Darren Moore have been linked with the role, but at least for now, Morrison has become the outstanding frontrunner – and deservedly so.
