Daryl Dike jets out for Morocco holiday for one last break before West Brom battle for survival

Daryl Dike has jetted off for one last break ahead of West Brom’s battle for their Championship future.

The American took to Instagram to show his current whereabouts, with the striker in Morocco while domestic action is paused for the international break.

The striker has had a torrid time with injuries at The Hawthorns, having made the move to the club from Orlando City in 2022.

Having featured in each of Albion’s last five matches, minutes have become much more regular for Dike under James Morrison.

Following a 1-0 win against Bristol City, West Brom are preparing to battle for their survival following the culmination of the international break – and a reset may be just what Dike needs.

Daryl Dike in need of a big reset after under-par season

As mentioned, Dike’s time in the Black Country has been a disaster throughout, with injuries seeing him sidelined for the majority of his stint.

This season, he has made 17 Championship appearances as the Baggies battle for survival, but has seen minutes become more common under Morrison, after the dismal spells under Ryan Mason and Eric Ramsay.

With his 17 appearances in mind, Dike has made just three starts this term – two of which came under the guidance of Morrison.

During this time, he has failed to score across 416 minutes.

Naturally, there will be some who don’t take too kindly to players jetting off mid-season, though the argument is there to be made that this is the perfect time for Dike to do exactly that.

Since the turn of the year, things have continued to worsen at The Hawthorns, before the recent uptick in form.

Ahead of the season’s crunch point, a break could be the exact thing the American forward needs as he prepares to make one final contribution before the expiration of his contract over the summer.

West Brom need everyone ready for final push – including Daryl Dike

Alongside fellow forwards Josh Maja and Karlan Grant, Dike is currently set to leave the club at the end of the season.

However, Albion need every member of their squad fit and ready for the run to May.

Sitting four points above the bottom three, the current situation is much more favourable than it was just over a week ago for the Baggies, but they simply cannot let their form slip after the international break.

It is a huge shame for Dike, having made just 61 appearances in four years at the club. Due to multiple reasons, the move simply has not worked out.

Though with Morrison’s side now fighting for their lives at the bottom end of the Championship, any contribution across the squad is welcome.

After a break over the international period, former midfielder Morrison needs everyone ready and available – Dike is a part of that, no matter how disappointing his time at the club has been.
