West Brom Women: Siobhan Hodgetts-Still hails ‘amazing feeling’ after win vs Sporting Khalsa

West Brom Women delivered a statement performance on Sunday, as they beat Sporting Khalsa 6-0 in the FAWNL Northern Premier.

The Baggies produced a dominant display at The Hawthorns, with braces from Monique Robinson and Lucy Day, alongside goals from Fran Orthodoxou and Ellie May rounding off the scoring.

Bouncing back after the midweek cup defeat to Wolves, Albion are looking to carry the momentum into the league clash against their Black Country rivals on Sunday.

Siobhan Hodgetts-Still’s side are now unbeaten in three league matches, with wins against Halifax and Hull City correcting a faltering run of successive defeats to Burnley and Stoke.

Now sitting fifth in the standings, Hodgetts-Still has hailed the “amazing feeling” among the group.

Away from the Alexander Stadium, Albion welcomed their fellow Midlanders to The Hawthorns – the long-time home of the men’s team, where Hodgetts-Still’s side were playing for the second time this season.

Hodgetts-Still, a lifelong Baggies fan, expressed just how much the result means: “We’re so pleased with that win.

“Six goals is something we’ve been missing in our game, so to put in that performance and score six in front of the fans is an amazing feeling.”

“It was a convincing win,” she added. “There were some really good goals, and we dominated the game”

Looking to leave their poor start to 2026 behind them, the Baggies have climbed up to fifth in the standings thanks to their fine league form as of late, forming a 15-point gap to the drop zone.

On playing at The Hawthorns, Hodgetts-Still highlighted how big the moment was.

“It’s always nice to play here, like I said, I’m a big Baggies fan, so it’s always amazing.

“I hope all of the fans enjoyed it. It was a great performance, and we can’t wait to see as many supporters as possible in the weeks to come,” she concluded.

Lucy Day drops ‘surreal’ claim after dream Hawthorns debut

Teenager Day was one of the standout individuals for Albion on Sunday, with two goals coming from a slightly unfamiliar midfield role.

Dual-registered with Birmingham City, the 18-year-old has already made a big impression at the club and admitted that the occasion itself was difficult to put into words.

“It feels surreal at the moment,” she said. “I don’t think my debut at The Hawthorns could’ve gone any better.”

“Stepping into midfield and playing in a different position, I really enjoyed it. To get six goals and a clean sheet as a team, it couldn’t have gone much better.”

The youngster also spoke about adapting to the new midfield role and the confidence within the squad following what turned out to be a comprehensive win on home soil.

“I’ve played in midfield a while ago, so I had a bit of a crash-course in midfield at training,” she said. “I enjoyed the attacking side of it and being a bit more carefree, knowing that there are people behind me who can defend.

“We need to build on this and the confidence and take that into next Sunday.”

After falling to a 3-0 defeat against rivals Wolves in December, the Baggies picked up a shock 1-0 win against Dan McNamara’s side in the FAWNL Cup earlier this year, before the most recent 2-0 defeat in the Birmingham Challenge Cup semi-final.

Looking to make it two wins this term apiece, Hodgetts-Still’s side make the trip across the Midlands to face Wolves on Sunday in the Black Country derby.
