Tammer Bany contract has not helped West Brom with their PSR woes
Tammer Bany may indirectly have a responsibility for West Bromwich Albion‘s Profit and Sustainability woes.
The Baggies have reportedly been charged with a PSR breach by the EFL, relating to the 2024-25 season, although the club have denied it.
The key sticking point is understood to be over repayments of the MSD Holdings loan, which was taken out under former owner Guochuan Lai.
Albion feels that it should not be included in PSR calculations, but the EFL view it differently and thinks it should, with a points deduction or a fine potentially on the cards.
The Jordan forward has nothing to do with that, but West Brom signing the 22-year-old may have pushed them over the edge when it comes to spending regulations.

How much has Bany set West Brom back?
West Brom paid around £3million for Bany from Danish side Randers in January 2025, which is covered by the reporting period.
He signed a three-year deal and is understood to be on around £17,000-per-week, which equates to a total of £884,000 across the year.

He has featured just five times since signing for The Hawthorns club, for a total of 51 minutes, so the total investment has definitely hurt the Throstles.
What has James Morrison said about Bany’s return?
Bany was ruled out for four months in December, and has not returned to action.
James Morrison admitted that he is excited to get back to action shortly, ahead of the 0-0 draw with Blackburn.
He said: “Tammer’s very keen.

“I think for him he just wants to get back onto the pitch and show what he can do.
“He’s had a difficult period, so I’ve had a couple of chats with him. I think he’s a day-to-day one, see how he is in training and then we’ll go from there.”
However, we have still not seen the young star return to the substitutes bench and start his return to action, despite the manager’s admission.
Bany cannot change the fact that the club paid the money for him, and agreed to pay his wage demands, but he has definitely not helped their current situation.
Hopefully, he can turn it around and become a star in the Black Country, but right now, he has caused more issues than he has solved for the B71 outfit.
He can’t directly be blamed for the PSR mess than the Baggies find themselves in, but wasting such a huge amount of money on his services, will not have had a positive impact of the financial landscape.
