Alex Mowatt contract has to be West Brom priority after Ipswich scenes

Alex Mowatt’s contract must be at the top of West Bromwich Albion‘s to-do list after the 0-0 draw against Ipswich Town.

The Baggies held the Tractor Boys to a goalless draw to ensure survival despite the two-point deduction imposed by the EFL for PSR breaches.

The 31-year-old signed a two-year extension in 2025, which is set to keep him in the Black Country until the summer of 2027.

His leadership and experience are vital, and Shilen Patel and Co, cannot risk losing him for free when the time comes.

West Brom must sort out a new contract for Mowatt, it should be a priority for the ownership.

Why James Morrison will want Mowatt to stick around

James Morrison has gotten the best out of a lot of Baggies players, and the former Barnsley man is no different.

If the 39-year-old stays in the dugout, he will likely want Mowatt to stick around, as he is one of the most experienced players in the team.

His display was pivotal to the West Midlands side securing their second-tier status and should be an important piece of the puzzle for the new season, especially if Morrison sticks around.

They need to sort out terms as soon as possible or he may move on when his current deal in B71 expires.
