West Bromwich Albion talent Torin Ntege has yet to make his first-team debut in the world of professional football.

At 20 years old, he has spent the majority of his career so far in the youth ranks and, most recently, the last year at The Hawthorns club. He will be eyeing his first chance in the men’s game.

However, ahead of next season, he could be looking to seek that elsewhere as West Brom attempt to keep themselves out of the relegation fight next season.

The academy talent will know that to continue his trajectory, the next step is to make the leap from youth football.

Ntege could now leave West Brom to join another EFL club, with Reading a potential destination after the latest reports.

How Torin Ntege could get fast-track to senior football

According to the Reading Chronicle, Ntege was involved in Reading’s under-21s’ recent match against Huddersfield, with the forward on trial.

The West Brom prospect was handed minutes in the second half as the Royals went on to lose the fixture 1-0.

Earlier in the season, Ntege shone for the West Brom under-21s and was mooted as a potential solution to the Baggies’ forward problems at the time.

However, this latest trial for Reading could signal a way for Ntege to finally get his senior football debut.

With West Brom in the Championship and Reading in League One, the drop-down in level could be ideal for the forward player.

Additionally, he may have more chance of being handed minutes at a lower level than he would in England’s second tier.

Would West Brom get money for Torin Ntege?

Unfortunately, Ntege’s contract for the B71 outfit is set to expire at the end of this season, so the 20-year-old is free to move away at no cost.

He joined in 2025 on a permanent one-year deal, but that did have an option to extend it by one year.

With Ntege on trial at Reading, that could signal that West Brom are happy to part ways with the forward and that they have no intention of triggering that option.

Overall, it may be the best move for everyone associated with the situation. At 20 years of age, Ntege would have been hoping for a lot more first-team football by now.

Moving to Reading could open up that door.
