Karlan Grant gives West Brom owners food for thought after scenes vs Sheffield Wednesday
Karlan Grant’s contract is up in the air after West Bromwich Albion‘s season concluded on Saturday.
The 28-year-old’s deal is set to expire in the summer, and there have been no indications of an extension at the moment.
It would be a big loss for the Baggies as the former Huddersfield Town man has proven that he can score at Championship level when he is fit, notching the consolation in the 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday.
He has a total of 58 goals and 15 assists in 249 appearances in the division, and he has given Shilen Patel and Co food for thought.
West Brom have to get it right this summer, and they will have to make a decision on Grant’s future.

How did Grant perform in West Brom loss to Sheffield Wednesday?
James Morrison made an admission on West Brom expiring contracts ahead of the game, and it seemed like Grant took it personally.
He gave the ownership and the manager something to think about with a 45-minute cameo in the contest.
He notched their only goal of the contest, with his only shot on target in the 82nd minute, according to data from Fotmob.
Grant completed 83 per cent of his 23 pass attempts in the game at Hillsborough, and made four passes into the final third.
| Grant’s stats vs Sheffield Wednesday | |
| Goals | 1 |
| Pass accuracy | 83% |
| Touches in opp box | 5 |
| Tackles | 1 |
| Ground duels won | 3/4(75%) |
He took five touches in the opposition box, and completed the only dribble that he attempted, in a brilliant second-half showing.
He even contributed defensively, making one tackle and winning three of the four ground duels that he contested, for a 75 per cent success rate.
What should West Brom do on Grant’s future?
Grant’s future likely depends on who the Black Country side can bring in, instead of having him upfront or on the flanks.
His highest tally in the second tier was 19 in the 2019/20 campaign, and he has not reached double figures since 2021/22 when he notched 18 strikes in the division.

His best days are behind him, but he can still bring experience and workrate, when he is in the squad.
It will be a tough decision, and the Throstles will not want to see him thriving in another side in their league, but that could be the case next season.
It probably depends on the finances, but he has given the B71 side a dilemma.
If they have decided to not offer him a new deal, he may have forced them into a rethink with his exploits in the last game of the campaign.
