West Brom have to be patient as Danny Imray transfer update emerges
West Bromwich Albion‘s chances of signing Danny Imray are still on, but it will not be a quick affair.
The Crystal Palace loanee was one of the Baggies’ most consistent players in the second half of the campaign.
There has been a clamour from the fanbase to bring him in permanently, and it appears that they may get their wish.
A report from John Percy on 4 May claims that James Morrison‘s side want to sign him permanently, but there will be a delay.
West Brom have put Imray as a top target, but they will have to wait to sign him.

Why West Brom have to wait for Imray
Imray has locked down the West Brom right-back role in his short time at The Hawthorns, and a permanent deal makes a lot of sense.
However, it may not be simple, as the report states that his future will likely not be resolved until the Premier League club appoints a new manager.
Therefore, Shilen Patel and Co will have to be patient and hold their nerve to secure his signature before the new season starts.
Why do West Brom want to sign him?
Imray was brilliant for Albion, so it is no surprise that they would like to add him to the squad.
According to data from Sofascore, he made 16 league appearances, with one goal and two assists in those matches.
He averages 0.5 total shots and 0.8 key passes, which are solid numbers considering the position that he plays.
Defensively, he has excelled, making 1.5 tackles per game, 3.1 ball recoveries per game and 1.9 clearances per game, cementing his place in Morrison’s team on a regular basis.
| Imray’s stats at West Brom | Championship |
| Total shots | 0.5 |
| Key passes | 0.8 |
| Tackles per game | 1.5 |
| Ball recoveries per game | 3.1 |
| Clearances per game | 1.9 |
| Ground duels won | 54% |
| Aerial duels won | 43% |
He has won 54 per cent of his duels on the ground but needs to improve in the air, where he won just 43 per cent.
There are unlikely to be any better options available on the market, and they do not already have experience of playing for the West Midlands club, so it makes sense to wait for him.
The new manager will likely sanction an exit, and if not, there will still be time to sort something out, so they can’t push on to alternative targets.
