West Brom doors open for Leon King transfer as Rangers defender makes new announcement
West Bromwich Albion could make their first signing of the summer after target Leon King’s latest announcement.
The Rangers defender, who has spent the last two seasons out on loan, has been at the Scottish side for 17 years after coming through its academy.
King has never been able to make a push for the first team, making just 42 appearances throughout his spell.
Ahead of next season, manager James Morrison will be looking to push further up the Championship table after an impressive end to the season just gone.
Now, a West Brom transfer for King may be further on the cards after the Rangers star made an official statement on social media, and it could help the Baggies achieve their goals.

Why Leon King transfer is now fully on the cards for West Brom
Morrison will know which positions need strengthening at the Hawthorns, and central defence will certainly be one of those departments.
A strong defensive line could help create a core foundation for the manager to succeed at West Brom.

King, who is one of those targets, has now officially confirmed that he will leave Rangers upon the expiry of his contract ahead of the summer.
On Instagram, King stated: “After 17 amazing years the childhood dream of that 5-year-old me comes to a halt.”
He then went on to thank everyone that have helped him on his journey.
The central defender would be a cost-effective deal, costing the B71 outfit nothing other than his wages due to his contract expiring.
He would offer youth to the backline and a winning mentality after being part of the Rangers squad that won the Scottish Premiership in the 2020-2021 season.

West Brom must show ambition for next season
The signing of King would be the first step in the right direction, with the Baggies needing to show ambition in the market.
A relegation battle simply cannot happen again, and a push for promotion is not entirely off the cards either.
Morrison’s short stint so far has offered hope and a strong summer window could put the B71 outfit in good stead for next season.
The arrival of King would certainly be a boost and offer added protection at the back for West Brom. With the door officially open for a free transfer, it seems like a no-brainer.
