Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has described Marc Guiu as fantastic amid links to West Brom.
The Premier League outfit are ready to open the door to allow the Spaniard to leave on loan before the end of the winter window [The Sun on Sunday].
With the clock ticking toward the 3 February transfer deadline, the Baggies will have to move quickly to sign the striker who is clearly highly rated by his head coach at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking in a pre-match press conference (1 February), ex-Albion star Maresca said: "Marc [Guiu] is improving a lot, to be honest. He is doing fantastic. Day after day he is more ready for that kind of game.
"Sometimes the decision I take is because I see something. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s not. But Marc [Guiu], day after day, is more ready."
To hear a head coach describe a young player in such glowing terms can only be a positive thing and will be music to Albion fans' ears.
Tony Mowbray could look to step up his side's efforts to sign the ex-Barcelona talent on loan but will be cutting it close given that the window slams shut on Monday (3 February).
After already bringing in Will Lankshear from Tottenham, it will be interesting to see if the new Baggies head coach will opt to add another forward to his squad.
There is every chance that Guiu could become a top player in the Championship, it is just a question of whether he is needed at The Hawthorns.
In other West Brom news, a Karlan Grant 'transfer request claim' has been made after the loss against Plymouth.
