Guochuan Lai would reportedly like to sell West Brom if he manages to recoup most if not all of his money he put into the club.

According to Express and Star [6 January], it is why he turned down an offer in early 2020 that would have seen him net £120million after promotion had been achieved.

However, it's understood that the offers he's likely to get now will not be any greater unless and until the Baggies become Premier League mainstays.

Need a canny operator

West Brom have massive potential to become regulars in the top flight and always have one of the best squads in the Championship as well.

It's about finding that right balance in their first season after promotion and they could be good to go for a few years at least.

A new owner should come in and prioritise improving the academy, training facilities and recruitment as they're the pillars to build on.

West Brom

It'll be interesting to see if they would want to make a radical change behind the scenes as there are certain people on the board that are failing to deliver time and again.

Fans have grown frustrated over the way the club's been run for years and there is no hope for anything to change in the Lai era.

Carlos Croberan's arrival has put smiles back on the faces of fans but for them to be long-lasting changes needed to be made in positions above his pay grade.
