Henry Winter raves about West Brom after Hawthorns update in last 24 hours

Henry Winter has praised West Brom for being "sensible" with their ticket pricing after the club's latest announcement.

The SJA football journalist of the year reacted via Twitter on 29 May to congratulate the Baggies for "respecting" the supporters not overcharging, and keeping "Kids for a Quid" offers at The Hawthorns for next season.

It is the first move with regards to ticket pricing since Shilen Patel took over the club from Guochuan Lai at long last during the previous campaign.

Winter wrote: "Club respecting its fans, sensible pricing and encouraging the younger generation, well done."

It is clearly easier for West Brom to maintain more reasonable ticket pricing when they are set for another season in the Championship but it will come as something of a relief to plenty of fans all the same.

Many clubs have faced criticism for charging more [BBC Sport, 28 May], with the increased focus on profit and sustainability apparently seen as an opportunity to gain more revenue from fans.

There had been predictions that Patel's new regime may put prices up after their arrival at The Hawthorns, particularly in light of the problematic finances at the club.

But, while Carlos Corberan will likely have to make some sacrifices in his squad once more before new arrivals are sought, it appears the Albion have resisted the temptation to squeeze the support.

Keeping an avenue open for young fans to attend West Brom games is a particularly welcome move and should help maintain some positivity around the club despite the disappointment of having missed out on a Premier League return in the play offs.
