Nicola Richards has welcomed Shilen and Dr Kiran Patel to West Brom after completing a takeover of the club.

The Tory MP for West Bromwich East tweeted on Wednesday (28 February) that becoming the custodian of the club is a "huge honour and responsibility" after Albion confirmed that the American businessmen had acquired Guochuan Lai’s 87.8 per cent shareholding.

Richards added that she looks forward to engaging with the new Baggies chiefs on their plans at The Hawthorns alongside the club's fans.

West Brom is behind Shilen Patel after takeover news

The entire West Brom community will be right behind the Patel family as they look to get the club moving forward again on and off the pitch, with Shilen Patel taking over as the new chairman.

It has been a turbulent few years after Lai racked up debts and put the Baggies' future in doubt with his mismanagement negatively impacting several aspects of the club.

There had been question marks over whether or not a takeover would eventually happen after months of negotiations, but the fans can rejoice after the day has finally arrived.

They can now look forward to what should, hopefully, be a much brighter future under the new majority shareholders, who appear to have the club's best interests at heart.

Carlos Corberan has done an incredibly good job of ensuring all the background noise hasn't negatively impacted matters on the pitch and the takeover news could now spur them on to achieve great things across the rest of the season at The Hawthorns.
