Daryl Dike has hit back at a West Brom fan who taunted him on a social media post as he continues his injury recovery.

The USA striker posted a video on TikTok (28 January) in which he discussed whether fans should support their father's team, and noted a support of Chelsea.

An Albion fan responded with a dig at Dike's injury recovery progress, to which the Baggies man - who still aims to help out in the final third of the season towards promotion - sent a reply.

The supporter said: "I support my dad's team [West Brom], who has a striker that's more interested in TikToks than recovering."

Dike retorted: "Do you think talking about being a Chelsea fan makes my recovery go slower?"

Daryl Dike continues West Brom comeback mission

If reports are to be believed, Dike could finally feature once again in a matchday squad very soon, with DOOD reporting (26 January) he could be on the bench against Sheffield Wednesday on 8 February.

That will be the next West Brom game at The Hawthorns, after the Baggies have visited bottom side Plymouth Argyle (1 February).

Tony Mowbray will be grateful for the added firepower up top when the American returns, having not played since last February with a brutal Achilles tendon injury.

Fan comments are not always helpful at times, and Dike took it in good jest to be fair - he's unfortunately likely had to deal with a lot worse over the past year because that's the nature of a certain section of social media fans, no matter the club.

With Josh Maja also absent, Dike could be hugely important especially if the Baggies are unable to complete their shopping list for the remainder of the winter transfer window.
