Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni has sent a message to West Brom man Josh Maja after he posted an injury update from hospital.

The Baggies striker is set to miss around four months of action after undergoing surgery on Thursday (21 December).

The 24-year-old, who has nine West Brom appearances to his name, suffered an ankle injury in the match against Sunderland earlier this month.

“Grateful to God for the successful surgery,” Maja posted on Instagram. “Focus is now on recovery and coming back stronger. A big thank you to everyone who sent messages of support, it means a lot.”

Plenty of players have been supporting the Baggies man with messages, including Real Madrid star Tchouameni, who played with Maja at Bordeaux.

Speedy recovery

West Brom have been very unlucky with injuries this season, with the Midlands club particularly impacted in the final third.

Maja is just the latest to be sidelined at The Hawthorns, much to the frustration of Carlos Corberan, who simply wants the injury issues to die down as he looks to get the Baggies promoted to the Premier League.

Summer signing Maja has certainly not been first choice under the manager, but he has proven that he can make an impact off the bench, with the striker netting his first goal for the club against high-flying Leicester City earlier this month.

He is now set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with West Brom forced to continue their Premier League push without the attacker.

And the Albion need to get back on track as soon as possible when they travel to Middlesbrough on Saturday (23 December), having drawn 1-1 at home to Stoke City last time out.
