Slaven Bilic: ‘Super Slav’ takes West Brom to the promised land
Slaven Bilic remains one of the most popular West Brom managers of the modern era. His high-octane football and touchline passion really won over the hearts of Albion supporters. His crowning glory was achieving promotion to the Premier League in the COVID-disrupted 2019-20 season, finishing as runners-up that campaign. He was sacked in December of that year, with the club sitting 19th but having just drawn 1-1 with Manchester City. Many observers felt it was a harsh dismissal, and ‘Super Slav’ will always have a spot in the hears of the Baggies faithful.
Slaven Bilic’s road to West Brom
Bilic has had a varied coaching career, taking on roles in his native Croatia – including the national team – as well as Russia, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. He managed West Ham in a spell lasting over two years, and joined Albion in June 2019. After his harsh sacking in December 2020, Bilic would go on to have coaching spells with Beijing Guoan, Watford, and Al-Fateh.
Slaven Bilic career achievements
Bilic enjoyed a distinguished career as a player, including spells in England with West Ham and Everton. He was part of the Croatia team that finished third in the 1998 World Cup in France. As a manager, he guided West Brom to the Premier League in the 2019-20 season.
