West Brom having a "mediocre" run of results could be enough for Carlos Corberan to come under serious pressure, Adrian Chiles has said.

Speaking on the Liquidator podcast (1 December), Chiles questioned whether or not the Baggies' current run of nine draws in their last 10 matches could result in Corberan being sacked by the club.

Admitting that he was every much on the fence about the issue of Corberan's future, Chiles added that mediocrity can often be a sign that change is needed, sometimes more so than outright "bad" results.

Chiles said: “Fans can get managers the sack, rightly or wrongly, and I don’t know which way I swing. It’s difficult because it’s not like we’re bad, so much as we’re rather mediocre.

"The bad ones aren’t the problem, it’s the mediocre people you come across – they don’t do anything particularly wrong, or anything particularly right.

"Just going through, and keeping drawing – is it bad enough to warrant him being shown the door?”

Carlos Corberan sack would send West Brom back to square one

Corberan leaving The Hawthorns has been a frequent topic across recent weeks in a variety of different circumstances – none of which would leave Baggies fans particularly happy.

As he was for several weeks in the summer, Corberan was one of the reported frontrunners to fill the managerial void at Leicester City after Steve Cooper's sacking, only for the Foxes to look elsewhere.

Appointing Ruud van Nistelrooy, having been unwilling to pay Albion the compensation required to poach Corberan [Alex Crook, 28 November], Leicester's pursuit of the Spaniard was in fact welcomed by some of The Hawthorns faithful.

Many supporters are ready to see the back of Corberan after his side's run of nine draws in 10, which has seen them drop from the top of the Championship table to seventh, outside the play-off places.

However, Corberan's record at Albion – one relegation rescue followed by a play-off campaign – cannot be overlooked, and if the club were to sack him, they'd be more likely to be looking down rather than up.
