TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has gushed over the potential of the upcoming derby between West Brom and Wolves in the FA Cup live on air.

Crook detailed the ferocity between the two teams, explaining that it is one of the big derbies in English football with no love lost between the two sides.

He went on to predict a special occasion between the two in the FA Cup and shared that West Brom often have the upper hand in the derby in previous encounters in the cup.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [17 January, 07:15], Crook shared: "It's ferocious. I think it'll be even more ferocious, this one. They've met quite a few times in the FA Cup and West Brom have the upper hand.

"It's like a lot of derbies, where outside of that area, not many people look at it as one of the big derbies. It is definitely one of the big derbies, there's no question. There's not a lot of love lost between the two.

"I think that's going to be a special tie."

The one we've all been waiting for

Finally, another derby is around the corner. The last time to two sides met was in a 1-1 Premier League draw at The Hawthorns in May 2021, and following the Baggies' relegation, it has been just under three years since this fixture was brought up.

That's the magic of the cup though. Not just giant killings and magic moments, but it's an opportunity for this derby to kick off once more, and these sets of fans need no second invitation.

Between now and then, nothing else matters. All that will be on the minds of both sets of fans is this clash and with the date set for 28 January, there isn't long to wait.

Wolves had to overcome a third-round replay against Brentford to set this clash up, and Baggies fans would've been willing them on in the 3-2 victory which came courtesy of a penalty from Matheus Cunha after five minutes of stoppage time in the first half of extra time.

Get this one in your diaries if for some reason it isn't already. As Crook said, it's going to be special.
