Barnsley fans cannot believe that West Brom appear to be on the verge of signing central midfielder Callum Styles.

The Yorkshire Post reported on Sunday (18 August) that Style is "set to complete" a move to The Hawthorns.

Baggies news source Dood reported earlier the same day that Albion had bid £500,000 plus striker Mo Faal for the 24-year-old, but that was deemed to be below what Barnsley were looking for.

Barnsley fans react to Callum Styles transfer news

Albion have already signed a player with Barnsley links this summer, having snapped up free agent Devante Cole following his departure from Oakwell.

Styles has ample experience in the English Football League, including the Championship with Barnsley and Sunderland, while he has also been capped 23 times by Hungary.

However, Barnsley supporters are not exactly disappointed to see him depart.

One such fan posted via X: "Might be the best day of my life."

Another said: "I thought our board was bad..."

The negative comments continued, with another simply saying: "Thank you so much."

West Brom have made a bright start to the 2024-25 Championship campaign, having collected four points from games with QPR and Leeds United.

Barnsley, meanwhile, have so far lost to Mansfield Town and beaten Lincoln City in their first two League One matches.
