Ben Foster reacts on Twitter as West Brom announce Morrison retirement

Ben Foster has congratulated James Morrison for a "brilliant career" on Twitter after West Brom confirmed the former Scotland international's retirement on Tuesday.

Albion have announced via their official website that even though Morrison, 33, had attracted attention from potential new clubs, he has taken the decision to hang up his boots.

Morrison will now play a coaching role in West Brom's academy and ex-Baggies goalkeeper Foster is delighted to see his former team-mate take the first step into his post-playing career.

"What a player! Congrats on a brilliant career Mozza, another great signing," said the Watford goalkeeper via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday.

Morrison has been a fantastic servant for West Brom and while it is sad that we will no longer see the ex-Scotland international play again, it is great that he could have a lasting impact on the up-and-coming youngsters currently in the Baggies' youth set-up.

West Brom's academy has undergone a massive change in the last few months with Luke Dowling overseeing a major change of guard.

The influence of a player like Morrison, who made 341 appearances across all competitions for the Baggies, could be hugely beneficial for those who are willing to emulate him in the future.
