Chris Wilder explains reasoning behind swapping Callum Robinson for Oliver Burke
Chris Wilder has insisted that Sheffield United can help kickstart Oliver Burke's career after his failed spell with West Brom.
The Blades boss admitted that negotiations had been going on for weeks between the two clubs and that it hadn't worked out for Robinson at Bramall Lane.
Luke Dowling has been hailed by Baggies fans, with the straight-swap deal viewed as a masterclass by many in the midlands.
Wilder clearly disagreed and claimed that Burke gives them what they need and hopefully this move won't flop like others.
"We needed a touch of pace and Oli certainly gives us that," he told their official website.
"We've been working on it for a few weeks and obviously we wish Callum Robinson all the best. It's a move that suits all parties and we are delighted to have Oli in the building.
"He's had a couple of big moves in the past that haven't gone as he'd have hoped, but it's down to us now to give him a kick-start and he's got all the attributes we want and need."
Hopefully the last we will hear of this
There is zero chance of this winger coming back to haunt us with pointless stories in the future compared to someone like Serge Gnabry, yawn.
Burke didn't make it at the Hawthorns because he simply wasn't good enough, and the only way he could prove that wrong would be to score three goals against the Baggies home and away next season.
The 24-year-old made 24 appearances for the Albion across three years and spent more time out on loan at other clubs, where he didn't impress either.
Everyone is delighted to see the back of Burke, and although Wilder seems delighted, it may not be long until it is proven that the Premier League is one step too far for the winger.
