Don Goodman rages at 'idiot' West Brom fans after what he heard about Carlos Corberan

West Brom News Speaking to Don Goodman

West Brom News is delighted to have Don Goodman joining its team of Albion experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the Baggies between 1987 and 1991, scoring 60 goals in 140 league appearances to make him one of the most prolific strikers in Hawthorns history. Goodman also played for Bradford, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports. Now, Don has agreed to join West Brom News and we're absolutely thrilled to share his expertise on the Baggies every week.

Don Goodman is amazed that a small section of the West Brom fanbase are questioning whether Carlos Corberan is still the right manager for the club.

A winless run spanning seven matches, the past five of those being draws, has led to some supporters growing restless.

Indeed, after the recent stalemate at home to Cardiff City, some took to social media to make their feelings known.

However, Goodman says perspective is required in terms of how few people feel that way about Corberan, who he is confident will soon get Albion back on track.

Goodman told West Brom News: "Ultimately, I bet it's probably less than one per cent of the West Brom fanbase who want Corberan to leave.

"Every team, every coach, go through periods where it becomes about problem solving. They have one of the best defensive records, conceding eight goals in 13 games. It's about that creative spark and clinical nature in front of goal.

"Carlos will come up with a plan. Sometimes you just have a game where it all changes for you, like a striker who goes on a streak without scoring.

"There's not a lot wrong with West Brom, though they do need to start winning games again. Anyone who thinks Corberan is worthy of being relieved of his duties, quite frankly they are idiots."

Carlos Corberan perfect man for West Brom

While supporters are obviously not happy to see their side go on a long winless run, most recently drawing 1-1 away at Luton Town, perspective is still required.

The Baggies are pretty much where expected at this stage of the Championship campaign, owing to a fantastic start.

Goodman is not wrong in calling those who want change in the dugout "idiots". In fact, a stranger term would probably suffice.

Runs such as this happen, and there quite frankly is not a better candidate out there - realistically speaking - who could do a better job than Corberan.
