Grady Diangana to 'stay at West Brom after Tony Mowbray talks' - Exclusive

West Brom News Speaking to Don Goodman

West Brom News is delighted to have Don Goodman joining its team of Albion experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the Baggies between 1987 and 1991, scoring 60 goals in 140 league appearances to make him one of the most prolific strikers in Hawthorns history. Goodman also played for Bradford, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports. Now, Don has agreed to join West Brom News and we're absolutely thrilled to share his expertise on the Baggies every week.

Don Goodman believes that Tony Mowbray is the perfect manager to persuade Grady Diangana to stay at West Brom amid rumours of a potential exit.

Diangana has had a mixed season at West Brom having registered just six goal contributions, four of which arrived in the Baggies 5-1 hammering of Portsmouth.

However, rumours of an exit for Diangana have been persisting throughout the window with the x-West Ham star said to be keen on returning to London [DOOD].

However, Goodman, when speaking exclusively to West Brom News, believes Mowbray is the ideal manager to persuade someone to stay at The Hawthorns.

"Well, if any manager that I've come across in my time covering the Championship could persuade a player to stay, then it's Tony Mowbray," explained Goodman.

"Because he is really genuinely one of the nice guys in the football where everybody that plays for him loves him. Everybody that plays for him wants to run through a brick wall for him.

"So if anybody can persuade Grady Diangana just to extend his time in the Midlands, then it would be Mowbray."

Grady Diangana would be missed at West Brom

While there are frustrations to be had over his lack of consistency, Diangana has showcased his true quality on more than enough occasions to warrant redemption under Mowbray.

His performance against Pompey was a prime example of that and if those levels can be replicated more often, West Brom have a real, real player on their hands.

Throughout his time in football, Mowbray has earned himself a remarkable reputation for the way he handles his squad as well as the way they respond to him.

It's unlikely to be any different for Diangana and if he can be persuaded to stay with the Baggies, it would provide a huge boost.
