James Morrison must fix serious West Brom issue that could cost him his job
West Brom battled to earn a point against Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.
Heading to Deepdale as favourites, the Baggies were forced to leave with a 1-1 draw in the bleak conditions.
It could have been must worse for James Morrison, too.
Andrew Hughes scored his first goal in three years to open the scoring, leaving the Albion on the brink.
Thankfully, their changes made the difference with Aune Heggebo smashing home the equaliser late on.
On an afternoon where they'd have gone second in the Championship with a win, one real issue continued.
They couldn't do it in the end, but fighting back for a point was better than nothing.
Going behind again, it's actually the sixth consecutive match where West Brom have failed to score first.
On top of that, it's the eighth time in 12 games where they've had to come from behind to earn something from games.
This is a Preston side that had conceded eight in their last two, with not enough shown in the final third to damage them.
Do West Brom have enough for promotion?
Morrison is doing a cracking job in the circumstances.
When you look at the teams around him in this Championship promotion race, and it paints a big picture.
Middlesbrough, Swansea, West Ham and Wolves have all spent big money, while the less said about Southampton, the better.
West Brom have also spent money, but it comes off the back of years of restrictions and repayments while fighting at the wrong end of the table.
Jimmy-Jay Morgan is a perfect example of signings paying off when the money is spent.
But, with that, you also have to help yourself.
It's all well and good having that fighting spirit, but eventually, you could start to lose these games if going behind so much.
The Championship is a brutal business, and while Morrison is nowhere near losing his job, it can quickly turn around if these things don't go your way.
