Joe Hart has sent a message of encouragement to West Brom ace Mikey Johnston after the forward bid farewell to Celtic.

Following his season-long loan spell at The Hawthorns last term, the Baggies announced [30 August] the return of the 25-year-old winger after notching seven goals and two assists under Carlos Corberan.

Johnston was the Baggies' 10th signing during the summer transfer window, and arguably the most exciting, understood to have joined on a £3million deal from the Scottish champions [Express and Star].

Reacting to the player's emotional Instagram post on Tuesday (3 September), Hart wrote: "Go smash it, Mikey," with a green heart and four-leaf clover.

Mikey Johnston joins West Brom on permanent deal from Celtic

Johnston's return to The Hawthorns has been greeted with a lot of excitement from the fans, especially after how he performed during his loan spell last season.

The Baggies have begun the new campaign in brilliant form, currently sitting in second in the Championship table after four matches and yet to lose a game.

They have claimed victories against QPR, Stoke City and Swansea City, and gained a positive draw against Leeds United, and that is only set to get better with the addition of a new winger.

Corberan's attacking threat was hugely diminished during the summer transfer window after Brandon Thomas-Asante's move to Coventry City and Mo Faal's move to Wrexham.

There was also a lot of speculation surrounding Tom Fellows' future at The Hawthorns, which likely would have been the last straw for the Championship club, so targeting Johnston made a lot of sense.

The main hope will just be that he hits the ground running like he did last season, combining well to add even more goals to an already exciting forward line.
