Journalist Lewis Cox has hailed the West Brom performance against Preston as an "incredible turn up for the books" after Matt Phillips put the Baggies 3-0 up at Deepdale.

West Brom travelled to Preston on a tricky run of form and without a win in four games, facing a side that were unbeaten so far this season, and took a three-nil lead just after an hour.

On top of this, the Baggies' away form has been poor, having won just two games away from home since February, leading to Carlos Corberan calling for his side to make rapid improvements to their away form.

Cox took to his personal Twitter account after Phillips' goal to state: "Incredible turn up for the books here. What an hour from the Baggies. Phillips into the box from the left, deflected effort beats Woodman."

The Baggies went on to win the game 4-0.

A huge result for the landscape of their season

This is a huge result for Corberan's side and could be a real turning point for their season after a difficult start, with a huge away win surely giving confidence and belief to a squad with plenty of talent and a top manager as well.

It will be the target of all around The Hawthorns this season to push for the playoffs after narrowly missing out last season. A 3-0 lead just after an hour away at Deepdale, facing one of the best defensive sides in the league, is certainly nothing to be sniffed at.

Baggies striker Brandon Thomas-Asante recently told The Express and Star that there was plenty of confidence from within the training ground and that when the team finally found a turnaround in their results, there would be no looking back.

If his statement is correct, this result is the ideal one to build from. An away win to see their struggles turn around, four goals to provide a boost to the attackers, and a solid defensive performance despite the absence of Semi Ajayi add up to make a pretty much perfect day for the Baggies.
