Aston Villa are among a host of Premier League sides keeping a keen eye on West Brom attacker Matheus Pereira as the Baggies face the threat of relegation.

According to The Athletic, Pereira is likely to be one of the most talked-about players in the summer transfer window and may leave the club should they fail to finish outside the bottom three.

While there's understood to be a legitimate interest from Villa, there are a number of other teams that have also scouted the in-form Brazilian.

Signed for only £8.1m last summer, Pereira has grown from strength to strength to become a phenomenal goal-scoring and creative threat for mid-table sides.

His performance against Chelsea was undoubtedly the pick of the bunch, which saw the Premier League's highest ever goal scorer Alan Shearer wax lyrical about it.

"A brilliant all-round display with two goals and two assists. If he can keep this up, West Brom can keep believing," he wrote in his column on the Premier League's official website.

Cashing in seems the best option

While it pains us to say, the club are expected to face heavy financial consequences which will lead to shakeups right across the board.

The fact of the matter is that most of our players are Championship level and only a handful have been successes in the Premier League this season.

Pereira has certainly been one of them, and it's no surprise that clubs like Villa are keen on acquiring his services come the end of the campaign.

We can easily sell him for a fee close to £20m - thus making a profit of more than 100 percent.

It could be the best move for all parties as we can then look to build a more sustainable side in our quest to get promoted back up.

Parachute payments will also help us overhaul our midfield and hopefully, our scouting team can sign players of Pereira's ilk that can hit the ground running and be instant successes at the Hawthorns.
