Ryan Mason's stats prove why West Brom fans can't get too giddy yet
Ryan Mason was supposed to take West Bromwich Albion to a new level during his time in charge.
As it turned out, the English manager lasted just half a season at the Baggies.
The Albion faced major turmoil in the previous campaign as Eric Ramsay arrived and made things even worse.
James Morrison ensured West Brom weren't relegated from the Championship after turning things around and has gotten off to a decent start this season.
The Black Country outfit won four of their opening six league matches this season.
There have been a few poor displays, namely against Wolves and Birmingham City recently, but West Brom still find themselves in a decent position after 10 games.
Ryan Mason record compared to James Morrison at West Brom
Morrison wants to manage West Brom's ambitions after the club almost got relegated last season.
At the moment, the Baggies will surely be considered contenders for a play-offs spot, but there's still plenty of time left in the campaign.
Mason had a similar start to his career in the Championship with the Albion and we all know how that ended.
After 10 games in the 2025-26 campaign, the West Midlands outfit were fifth in the table, having won five, drawn twice and lost thrice.
Morrison has the same record this season after 10 league matches and it proves that The Hawthorns faithful can't get too giddy just yet.
What James Morrison is getting right at The Hawthorns
There's no doubt West Brom are delivering better performances and playing an attractive brand of football under Morrison.
Mason wanted to implement the modern, possession-based style onto the Baggies, but it backfired.
Morrison is more pragmatic, with the Albion playing with a much younger, high-energy team that looks to counter and run in behind the opposition defences.
The simple 4-4-2 setup is getting the best out of Isaac Price, Harry Whitwell and the other attacking contingent, although the strikers haven't been at their best recently.
There's reason for optimism under Morrison, but fans in B71 will be wary of putting too much pressure on the team right now.
