Sam Allardyce will walk away from West Brom if the club fails to avoid relegation from the Premier League, West Brom News understands.

With nine matches left to play, Albion sit 19th in the Premier League table, 10 points adrift from safety with the worst goal difference in the top-flight.

Allardyce was appointed in charge of the Baggies in December when he agreed an 18-month deal at The Hawthorns which included a £2million bonus if he managed to lead the Black Country club to safety.

However, a source at the club has told West Brom News that there is also a break clause in the contract which can be activated by either Albion or Allardyce at the end of the season.

That break clause will be activated if the Baggies are relegated back to the Championship and with the team struggling for points, that seems inevitable.

Allardyce was brought in during December after Slaven Bilic was sacked with the task of guiding the West Midlands club to safety.

However, a damaging run of form around the Christmas period and a delay in welcoming new faces in January have led to West Brom's spot in the bottom-three becoming more and more concrete with each passing week.

Next up for Albion is a tricky clash against in-form Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

After that, Allardyce will be trying to defend his never-been-relegated record against Southampton, Leicester, Aston Villa and Wolves.

West Brom then finish their season with testing matches against Arsenal, Liverpool, West Ham and Leeds.

In other West Brom news, Guochuan Lai faces a huge issue with the club's value set to plummet around 50 per cent upon relegation.
