Shilen Patel took to social media to congratulate West Brom Women after they defeated Stourbridge 5-0 on Wednesday.

The Baggies chairman posted on X (25 September) following the full-time whistle at the Valley Stadium in Redditch, which saw the hosts record a five-goal victory over their local rivals.

Albion were 4-0 up at half-time through goals for Simran Jhamat, Hannah George and two from Ellie May, with Jess Davies rounding off the scoring in their FA National Women's League clash.

Shilen Patel is transforming West Brom at every level

Life at The Hawthorns for Albion players, coaches and fans alike is an absolute world away from where it was 12 months ago, and that's largely down to Patel's influence since buying the club in February.

Few would have seen such an uptick in results both on and off the field in such a short space of time, but from the top down, the Baggies have had life breathed back into them.

Carlos Corberan's unbeaten first-team side sitting pretty at the top of the Championship is perhaps the biggest indicator of this, and a 5-0 local derby win for Albion Women will only add to that feeling.

With the club's off-field activities also being championed by the Baggies chairman, it's clear that Patel is the driving force the club needed after years of circling mediocrity.

Corberan's side winning promotion to the Premier League is no doubt the ultimate goal for Patel, but this will bring with it newfound exposure for the clubs increasingly prominent women's side too.
