It has been eight years to the day since West Brom fans celebrated one of their most famous derby day victories against Wolves.

Roy Hodgson masterminded a 5-1 win at Molineux on February 12, 2012, a victory that was felt so hard by Wolves that they sacked manager Mick McCarthy and went on to suffer back-to-back relegations down to League One.

Peter Odemwingie scored a hat-trick in that game and although he could have ended his spell at The Hawthorns in a better way, the Nigerian forward is still heralded as a hero by many supporters for his goalscoring exploits in the Black Country.

Odemwingie's finest performance in blue and white stripes arguably came on that day against Wolves and he has now taken to his personal Twitter account to celebrate the anniversary of the game.

The ex-Albion forward simply posted a screenshot about the anniversary, accompanied by the famous scoreline.

West Brom fans have flocked to respond to Odemwingie's post about the heavy win against Wolves.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

It is good to see that Odemwingie is being remembered for all the good he did in his time at The Hawthorns, rather than the way he went about leaving the club.

He remains as Albion's highest-scorer in the Premier League since the competition was rebranded in the 1990s and should be remembered for that.
