Steven Gerrard odds crash in major West Brom next manager twist
Steven Gerrard remains in the running to become West Brom's next boss, as the Championship club continue their search for Tony Mowbray's successor.
The Liverpudlian was previously level with the likes of Russell Martin and Rob Edwards in the race to become the Baggies manager.
Meanwhile, QPR boss Marti Cifuentes is no longer a candidate to take the managerial reins at The Hawthorns, despite being placed on gardening leave by the West London outfit.
West Brom ended their Championship campaign in a poor vein of form, failing to win three of their last five games.
Gerrard climbs the betting market in West Brom managerial race
Gerrard previously led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title in 2021, but his subsequent managerial career has left a lot to be desired.
Meanwhile, as per Bet Victor via Oddschecker, the 44-year-old's odds of becoming the Baggies boss now stand at 20/1.
Gerrard is the only mover in the betting market over the past 24 hours or so.
Former Tottenham interim manager Ryan Mason is still the favourite, though, with Bet Victor offering odds of 5/4 for the Englishman.
West Brom need more stability next season
Some exciting names have emerged as candidates for the West Brom vacancy, such as that of former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.

The Welshman was arguably harshly sacked by Leicester City in the Premier League earlier this season, while he boasts an impressive Championship CV.
Cooper guided Forest to a Championship playoff final victory in 2022, before keeping the East Midlands side in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Stockport County boss Dave Challinor is also on the Baggies' radar, and has steered the Greater Manchester outfit from the National League to the League One playoffs in the space of just four seasons.
But while owner Shilen Patel has a big decision to make in appointing West Brom's next permanent manager, The Hawthorns faithful will all agree that more stability is needed next term.
There is no doubt that the exit of Carlos Corberan damaged Albion's playoff credentials, while Mowbray's subsequent dismissal further demonstrated how turbulent the season has been in the Black Country.
