The options now available to James Morrison after worrying Nolan Galves update
James Morrison has a serious right-back problem for West Bromwich Albion's clash with Queen Park Rangers on Saturday.
The Baggies earned the rarest of away wins at Derby County on Wednesday night to climb top of the Championship.
That 1-0 victory was done the hard way as debutant Brayann Pereira was sent off in the first half after Aune Heggebo had opened the scoring.
Nolan Galves was brought on for Harry Whitwell as Morrison adapted and shuffled his pack.
However, Galves went off injured in the second half and was replaced by Conor Townsend, leaving Morrison down to his bare bones.
After providing a worrying update on Galves, Morrison now has a big call to make this weekend.
Who will start right-back for West Brom vs QPR?
West Brom's 1-0 win over Derby was made even more impressive given the circumstances.
It has come at a cost, though, as Morrison confirmed after the game Galves is likely to face a spell out.
As quoted by Birmingham World, Morrison said Galves' injury "doesn't look good".
Morrison added: "He will be assessed like always. It was his knee. It doesn’t look good."
So with Galves out indefinitely and Pereira serving a one-match ban against QPR, who will start at right-back?
There is one option that is not ideal but seems like the best call for a one-off basis.
That would be playing Callum Styles at right-back and Townsend at left-back.
Townsend slotted in on the right against Derby but he is far better suited on the left, whereas Styles can adapt to most positions.
James Morrison could break up centre-backs vs QPR
There are various other combinations possible for Morrison at The Hawthorns on Saturday
For example, he could move George Campbell to right-back, where we know he can play.
But would mean breaking up his impressive central-defensive partnership with Nat Phillips.
There is also the option of going with three centre-backs, meaning Chris Mepham is drafted in, and using a winger and right-wing back.
Neither option is ideal, with Styles on the right, Townsend on the left and the usual centre-back combo surely the best choice.
