West Brom fans buzzing as Hawthorns exit confirmed - 'Feel like I'm dreaming'
West Brom fans are happy to finally see the back of Uros Racic after the midfielder was recalled from his loan at The Hawthorns.
Braga announced [1 February] the signing of the 26-year-old, returning to Portugal for the first time since his 2022/23 loan spell, with the Baggies now confirming his departure [X].
Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby have been the trusted midfield partnership this season, with John Swift most recently being brought in by Tony Mowbray, leaving Racic in the cold.
The Sassuolo loanee has massively failed to impress during his time in England, which is evident in the Baggies' fans' reactions to Braga's social media post.
Supporters had clearly become frustrated with the midfielder's struggles to deal with the competitive nature of the Championship, losing far too many duels and making costly mistakes.
Transfers always come with some risk, but with Albion possessing the ability to terminate his loan, it was a very low-risk signing for the Baggies to make ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Of course, his departure leaves Mowbray with one less option in the middle of the park, but given his performances so far, he would not have helped solve that problem in the second half of the campaign.
The Serbian's stature and strength should have made the Championship move much easier for him, but clearly reading all the responses to the news, he failed to make that adjustment at The Hawthorns.
Mowbray will need Mowatt and Molumby to step up now more than ever, and hopefully, remain fit for the rest of the campaign, especially if the Baggies fail to bring a new midfielder in.
Racic could have remained at The Hawthorns for the rest of the season but it would have just caused more frustration for the supporters, who could see he was not good enough to play for Albion.
