Lewis Cox has revealed what West Brom fans did to Bristol City ace Taylor Gardner-Hickman before kick-off on Saturday (16 March).

The 22-year-old midfielder is very well known by The Hawthorns faithful, having come through the club's academy before making his debut in 2021.

Having gone out on loan to Ashton Gate Stadium for the first half of the current campaign, Gardner-Hickman sealed a permanent move with the Robins during the January transfer window.

Taking to X on Saturday (16 March), the Express & Star journalist wrote: "Applause for Taylor Gardner-Hickman as his name is read."

West Brom take no prisoners on the pitch against Bristol City

Although the Baggies fans showed a great sign of appreciation for the former player, having left the club just two months ago, Carlos Corberan's men showed no mercy.

It may have been all hugs and smiles at full-time but West Brom sealed an all-important 2-0 victory during the 90 minutes, with Tom Fellows and Jed Wallace securing the three points at The Hawthorns.

With Southampton, who occupy the Championship's fourth spot above the Baggies, now having two games in hand, Corberan's squad have closed the gap on them to just seven points.

Any hope of claiming automatic promotion to the Premier League was over a while ago, but West Brom will be keen to maintain the gap between themselves and Norwich City, with Hull City threatening to push into the playoff spots.

Though the Canaries claimed a comfortable 5-0 win over Rotherham United on Saturday 16 March, the gap remains at five points and will ease any worries heading into matches against Millwall, Watford and Stoke City.

Wallace getting on the scoresheet will also be seen as a massive positive, netting for the first time since the 2-0 win over Rotherham in December. Hitting form during the run-in to the end of the season will be key for the playoffs.
