West Brom are likely to appoint a manager this weekend but is unlikely to be Urs Fischer as he hasn't had an interview yet, according to DOOD.

The Albion insider reported to X on 9 January that a head coach appointment is "more likely" to be on the weekend rather than on Thursday (9 January).

Rene Hake and Raphael Wicky have both had interviews but it doesn't appear that the 58-year-old has held these talks despite being considered at the start of the recruitment process.

West Brom to finalise manager appointment after Urs Fischer update

The Baggies finally look set to announce the successor to Carlos Corberan after the Spaniard left for Valencia three weeks ago.

There is no doubt that the 41-year-old is a tough coach to replace and it is positive that this process is being carried out thoroughly.

Chris Brunt and Co. have done an excellent job in the interim but now could be on their way out if an appointment is made this weekend.

If it isn't to be Fischer it appears that The Hawthorns hierarchy has a decision to make between Hake and Wicky who seem to be the prime candidates.

Whatever decision is made in B71, it needs to be made in good time so that the new head coach has time with the squad ahead of the Championship clash against Stoke City on 18 January.

Supporters will be keen to discover who the new manager will be but are likely to be disappointed if they want Fischer to take over from Corberan.
