West Brom have pulled off a coup of sorts after confirming the appointment of coach Martin Drury from Manchester United.

The Baggies announced the news via the club's official website on Thursday (22 August), with Drury joining Carlos Corberan's backroom staff.

Drury arrives from Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, where he has spent the past two years working with the academy side.

Carlos Corberan adds to West Brom staff

Corberan knows Drury personally from earlier in his career and that may well have swayed the 38-year-old's decision to leave Man United.

Rather than working with Albion's age-grade sides, Drury looks likely to work with the senior players alongside Corberan.

Drury has also spent six years working at Bradford City, which is where he got to know then-Leeds United coach Corberan on a personal level.

While this arrival will not exactly be as heralded as much as a £1million striker would, it is still an important addition to The Hawthorns staff.

It is another piece in the puzzle as Albion gear up for another push at promotion back to the Premier League.

With the coaching staff in place, hopefully one or two more player additions are now made over the next eight days.
