West Brom reportedly scouted current Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the past and opted against bringing him to the Hawthorns.
According to Chris Lepkowski, the England international was watched by the Baggies a while ago as they looked to sign a striker.
He has since gone on to score 27 goals and provide eight assists in 55 Premier League games for the Bees.
Via Twitter, Lepkowski said, "Was scouted. Wasn't wanted. Hey hop."
How on Earth?
We cannot understand the rationale behind not signing Toney, especially given some of the disastrous signings the Baggies have made in the past.
Even at Peterborough, Toney appeared to be unstoppable and it was evident that he was going to do the same thing wherever he played.
It can be argued that he's Europe's best penalty taker and is yet to miss a single penalty he's taken in in the Premier - which is a huge achievement.
Throughout his professional career, he's only failed to score from 12 yards once and apart from that is a lethal striker in front of goal from open play as well.
West Brom will be ruing this decision as another one that got away and who knows, they could've been in Brentford's place had they signed him.
He had a phenomenal season in the Championship as well under Thomas Frank and is already one of the best strikers in the Premier League as well as he's scored 15 in 22 games this season.
