West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu will be named in the Turkiye squad to head to Euro 2024, according to Sports Digitale journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu.

In a post on X [22 May], Sabuncuoglu reported that Yokuslu has been given the call-up by Vincenzo Montella for his national team, for whom the 30-year-old has 39 caps.

The same publication have also noted Yokuslu could leave West Brom this summer, with clubs back in his homeland such as former side Trabzonspor circling the Albion man.

Sabuncuoglu posted to report his inclusion: "Okay Yokuslu was invited to the national team squad" - with other posts confirming the call-ups of Yokuslu's Turkish teammates.

It was also confirmed on 22 May by Markaj on X that the official squad is expected to be named by Montella on Thursday 23 May.

Okay Yokuslu, Turkiye and... West Brom?

Since Yokuslu's introduction to West Brom as a loanee in the Premier League during 2020-21, the club were keen on retaining his services and managed to do so in the summer of 2022 on a permanent basis.

The fee paid of around £3m has been recouped comfortably by the Turkish midfielder's performances, a key anchor in the middle of the park for Carlos Corberan's side who were defensively sound for large parts of the campaign.

Yokuslu was an ever-present during a Championship season in which the Baggies reached the play-offs, and with just one year left on his deal, after the Euros could be the time to cash in - particularly if he plays often and performs well for Montella's side.

It could be the case that Yokuslu himself feels he is ready to return to his homeland, in which a deal elsewhere would make sense for all parties, but he has been a sterling servant at The Hawthorns whatever transpires later this summer.
