West Brom to accelerate plans to hire new manager after defeat to Bristol City

West Brom are set to "accelerate plans" for a new manager this week after defeat to Bristol City on Tuesday night in the Championship.

The Baggies sacked Steve Bruce nine days ago but Under-21 boss Richard Beale has been placed in temporary charge of the first-team with the board still yet to finalise a shortlist for his successor, with the team winning once and losing once since.

But according to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett [19 October], Ron Gourlay has spoken to "more than 10 possible candidates" and plans are now likely to accelerate after the most recent defeat.

"[West Brom] have yet to finalise manager shortlist 9 days after Steve Bruce sacking," he wrote on his personal Twitter account.

"I've been told the club have so far spoken to more than 10 poss candidates with Ron Gourlay determined to carry out an exhaustive search.

"Last night's defeat to Bristol City likely to accelerate plans."

About time

There was obviously no plan in place when the club sacked Bruce, because they never wanted to sack him and had to succumb to the pressure of the fans and the poor results he was racking up.

But to be almost two weeks into a search for a new manager and not even have a finalised shortlist is disgraceful and shows how badly the club is being run currently.

There have been countless names linked to the post including Carlos Corberan, Roy Keane, Sean Dyche, Steven Schumacher and Gary Rowett yet nobody seems like an actual favourite.

We've lost two more games of the season to get back to where we belong because we don't have a manager in charge, and despite winning one of them it's still not been good enough.

More needs to be done and quickly. The game against Millwall on Saturday is likely to be a throwaway now because there'll be no new boss or one who has had no time with his team.
