What West Brom's Jayson Molumby allegedly said to multiple Israeli players in Ireland clash
West Brom's Jayson Molumby has been embroiled in more drama following the Republic of Ireland's contentious double-header against Israel.
The two fixtures were in doubt about going ahead, with public perception in the country suggesting the FAI withdraw.
In the end, the decision to go ahead with the match was made, with the Irish camp putting it to a vote, with those wanting to play reportedly winning by 14 votes to eight.
The saga building up to kick-off in the two matchups certainly added to the tension.
In the end, Molumby would come out of the two ties with a 3-0 win and a 1-1 draw.
And Molumby was reportedly drawn into the tensions that flared up throughout both games, with an altercation following the second.
What have the Israeli media claimed Jayson Molumby has done?
Molumby appeared to be the centre of focus for many Israeli players on Sunday.
The Irishman was involved in plenty of crunch tackles, with the opposition also routinely trying to get in his head.
Now, claims relayed by the outlet from Israeli media Sport5 appear to suggest why that may have been the case.
They allege that Molumby was involved in insults throughout both games, labelling West Ham's Manor Solomon, a player only five centimetres shorter than the midfielder, a "midget."
Allegedly, the 5'9" West Brom star also engaged in "similar teasing" with Israel's 6'1" forward Dor Turgeman, and Oscar Glouhk, who is also just five centimetres shorter.
With that said, Molumby's comments are likely being blown way out of proportion and made more significant than they were at the time, especially when said to a player such as Turgeman, who is taller.
It is the simple nature of the game for a footballer to try get under their opponent's skin.
And it seemed to work with it reportedly being something the Israeli's did not take lightly
As the media outlet claims it "sparked an altercation near the dressing rooms" following full-time.
Why Molumby will come out of international break for the better
Molumby will likely never have a more distracting week in preparation for any game of football than he did for Ireland against Israel.
And for West Brom, that lesson will only benefit the Baggies and the midfielder himself.
With the international attention now in the background, Molumby will return to the Hawthorns knowing he can deal with a circling media storm behind him.
That should allow him to be able to focus on the season ahead in B71 with a clear head, and no fear of outside distractions.
