Xu Ke accused of misleading West Brom shareholders as legal action starts at The Hawthorns
Xu Ke has been accused of misleading West Brom shareholders, with Shareholders for Albion to take legal action in a bid to “protect the future” of the club.
The Baggies chief allegedly misled shareholders on three occasions when confirming that money had not left the club, when it supposedly had.
The group of minority Albion shareholders, known as S4A, have now been “left with no choice” but to step in legally to prevent further money misuse at The Hawthorns.
“Shareholders for Albion have been left with no choice but to take all legal and regulatory action necessary at this time to protect the future of our football club and prevent further misuse of the football club's money,” according to the Express & Star.
“All supporters of West Bromwich Albion can be assured that we will do all that we can to protect the future of our great club.
“We must point out that Xu Ke has also misled shareholders on the record on three occasions previously when confirming that money had not left the club, when we now discover it had.
“Once at a General Meeting dated 29 July 2021 and twice in agreed updates to be sent to our members, further to discussions with him.”
Hope with legal action
The legal action against WBA Group and its director Xu Ke is unsurprising given how things have unravelled at The Hawthorns lately.
Hopefully the threat of legal action will open the door to better communication or even for the Chinese ownership to leave altogether, but Baggies fans can only dream of that latter scenario coming true.
It’s not an ideal situation by any stretch of the imagination, but it would be great if the increased pressure from the fans and the minority shareholders would loosen their grip on the club somewhat, which would mean they would sell for a lower price.
West Brom manager Carlos Corberan won’t be getting involved in such a sticky situation, with the boss only wanting the freedom to work with his squad this summer free from distractions.
Such distractions have been going on behind the scenes at The Hawthorns for far too long, with Premier League promotion a long way away if those issues continue into next season.
