Russell Martin is looking increasingly likely to be named as the next Leicester City manager.

The Foxes suffered the fate that many thought West Brom had in store for them when they were relegated to League One.

That, in turn, led to the sacking of Marti Cifuentes, as well as the departure of Gary Rowett, with the Foxes now on the lookout for their next boss.

Former Rangers and Southampton manager Martin is said to be among the list of candidates for the jobs as he looks to get back into English football.

And if that were to happen, West Brom may suffer as a result.

How Russell Martin appointment could hamper West Brom

Leicester simply have to get out of League One next season, and to do so, they are likely to back whichever manager they choose to lead them forwards.

Not only from a player recruitment perspective, but also from a staff perspective, with several behind-the-scenes appointments expected.

West Brom did the same for James Morrison, with the appointment of Matt Gill at the start of March.

However, just months after he made the move to The Hawthorns, he could be on his way out again, given the relationship he has with Martin.

Gill assisted Martin when Southampton were promoted to the Premier League, as well as making the move with him to Glasgow in his short sint at Rangers, having spent several years as his assistant.

What is on West Brom's summer to-do list?

First and foremost, player recruitment is going to shape the success that West Brom can achieve under Morrison massively.

With several exits already confirmed upon the expiry of their contracts, adding depth and quality is going to be a necessity for the Baggies if they are to do avoid another relegation battle.

From there, Morrison will need to find a system that works best for the players he will have at his disposal, with pre-season set to afford him the chance to do just that.

Plans may shift if other key players are to leave, with Isaac Price among those linked with an exit amid interest from a handful of Premier League clubs.
